The Valkyries are the first women's sports team with over $100 million in annual revenue

According to Sportico, the Golden State Valkyries are the first women's sports team with $100 million in annual revenue.
The Valkyries began play in the WNBA's 2025 season. Before the team ever took the court, owner Joe Lacob said he believed Golden State had a chance to generate more revenue than any other WNBA team, citing the Warriors' facilities and ability to attract sponsorship dollars.
The Warriors owner planned to put the Warriors' existing business structure and resources behind the new franchise.
Lacob's ownership group purchased the Golden State Warriors for $450 million in 2010. CNBC's 2026 valuation places the franchise at more than $10 billion.
On the Bowstone Index, the Valkyries' AI Visibility rose from 23.8 to 25.2 between Bowstone's September 26 and October 3 published observations, a gain of 1.4 points. Golden State also posted a Social Presence score of 100 and a Bowstone Index score of 51.4, ranking fourth among the 15 WNBA teams measured by Bowstone, leaving the Valkyries roughly six points behind the league-leading Indiana Fever, which posted a Bowstone Index score of 57. On Bowstone's question ranking the top five WNBA teams by overall brand strength, Claude, OpenAI and Perplexity placed the Valkyries first, while Gemini placed them fourth.
To note, those are question-specific positions, not overall provider rankings.
With the Valkyries now established as the first women's sports team to reach $100 million in annual revenue, future Bowstone observations will offer a look at whether the franchise's AI Visibility, peer standing or model positions change alongside that new commercial milestone. The current readings do not establish the cause of the recent change.
